COAP launched a mental health Listserv starting in 2022 for Central Oregon mental health professionals. The listserv is intended to be a vital communication tool for mental health professionals in our area to communicate with one another on important topics such as requests for referrals, job openings, available office space, and to share information pertinent to the profession such as legislative updates and policy changes.
The Listserv is open to any mental health professional in the Central Oregon area, including licensed mental health professionals, Master's and Doctorate-level students in a related field, interns, and residents. You do not need to be a member of COAP to join the listserv and COAP will cover all costs for operating the listserv. COAP LISTSERV RULES Central Oregon Association of Psychologists, as a Chapter of the Oregon Psychological Association, is required to follow APA’s Listserv rules, which are summarized below. You may find the original Listserv document at APA.org. Our goal in creating a Listserv for our Central Oregon members is to encourage communication and to be a resource to one another, including locating therapists as a referral for a client, notifications of office space, questions about resource materials, etc. You should be aware that, while members of this listserv attest to being in the behavioral health field, there is no guarantee of confidentiality for things that are posted in this forum. Additionally, the nature of electronic communications technologies is such that we cannot guarantee that the communications will be kept confidential or that others may not gain access to the postings on the listserv. In general, we ask that you be respectful, do not politicize, and do not use this space for commercial advertisement purposes. If you are attempting to make a referral, please do not use information that could potentially identify the potential client. Rather, describe what type of therapist/therapy you are attempting to locate. “Looking for a therapist who can provide treatment of anxiety disorder for an adult male” rather than “looking for a therapist for a 35-year-old Pacific Islander male with anxiety disorder who has BC/BS insurance.” It is permissible to post information regarding office space for rent and/or opportunities to join an existing practice. If you have questions or concerns, please send an inquiry via the COAP website and we will respond. By signing up for this listserv you are agreeing to abide by the rules summarized below. _________________________________________________________ Rule 1: Do no use the forum for emergency or urgent matters. This forum is not monitored on a regular basis and is not intended for emergency purposes. If you, or someone you know, is concerned about safety call 911, call the Deschutes County Crisis Line at 541-322-7500 ext 9, or go to your local emergency department. Rule 2: Do not use the forum for illegal purposes, including but not limited to defamation, violation of intellectual property laws, violation of antitrust or unfair competition laws or violation of criminal laws. This includes distribution of unsolicited advertisement or chain letters, propagation of computer worms and viruses, and use of the network to make unauthorized entry to any other machine accessible via the Forum. Rule 4: Do not use the Forum for commercial purposes. "Commercial" as used for purposes of evaluating listserv messages means communications whose primary purpose is to advance the business or financial interests of any person or entity, or otherwise to promote a financial transaction for the benefit of the author directly or indirectly. Examples of prohibited communications include advertisements for products or services or direct solicitations of listserv members to purchase products or services. Rule 5: Do not use this forum for any communication that could be construed in any way as support for or opposition to any candidate for a federal, state or local public office. The Federal law providing for our organization’s tax exempt status absolutely forbids the use of COAP resources or facilities, including this forum, in any way that would even appear to support or oppose such a political candidate. |
